12/29/2023 0 Comments Setup phpmyadmin godaddy![]() You should be able make a back up of your current database via phpMyAdmin, then create a new database (making sure to select NO when asked "Allow Direct Database Access?") and upload the backed up data to the new one so you don't lose anything or have to do an install from scratch. I don't see any way to tell if the database is internal or external after it is setup. Please Log in or Create an account to join the conversation. If not, maybe someone else can benefit from this tip :-) But if you did select yes to the "Allow Direct Database Access?" question than this could be where your problem lies. Don't know if this it related to your issue or not. I personally found as soon as I did a re-install and selected no to the direct database access question giving me a local database server, all my issues went away. The system is timing out when it is trying to connect to the remote server. When you choose Direct Database Access (external access), you are assigned a external database sever and when you choose internal you get one that is local to the webserver you have the site files on. Here is where the problem lies, at least it was for me. Note: Databases with External access are located on a separate server than databases without External Access. External allows you to access your mysql server remotely and internal only allows access through the godaddy control panel.Īs stated in the godaddy mysql creation screen. When I set up the database for the first attempt I was asked "Allow Direct Database Access?" This roughly translates into Internal or External access. When setting up webtrees on an initial try it was slow and timed out, just as you mentioned. ![]()
